Se espera que más de 300,000 espectadores se agolpen a orillas del Sena cuando los atletas desfilen por el centro de París en una flotilla de barcazas y botes fluviales, en el marco de una extravagante ceremonia inaugural que será seguida por miles de millones de telespectadores de todo el mundo.

En busca de agigantar su ego como expertos del buen gusto, los franceses inauguran los Juegos Olímpicos de París este viernes con una fastuosa e inédita ceremonia en la que más de 6,000 deportistas desfilarán sobre las aguas del río Sena, en un recorrido por los lugares más emblemáticos de esta ciudad.

El comité organizador guarda bajo estricta reserva los detalles del evento, el primero fuera de un estadio y que promete ser el mejor de la historia olímpica. Nada parece librado al azar, salvo por dos asteriscos: la seguridad y el clima. (Con información de EFE y AP)

    Saboteadores atacaron la red de trenes de alta velocidad de Francia (TGV, por sus siglas en francés) en una serie de acciones coordinadas perpetradas antes del amanecer que provocaron el caos en las líneas ferroviarias más transitadas del país antes de la ceremonia de inauguración de los Juegos Olímpicos de París el viernes.

    El sabotaje coordinado se produjo mientras Francia desplegaba una operación de seguridad sin precedentes en tiempos de paz, en la que participaron decenas de miles de policías y soldados para bloquear la capital con motivo de los Juegos, absorbiendo recursos de seguridad de todo el país.

    La empresa estatal de ferrocarriles francesa SNCF dijo que los vándalos habían dañado las cajas de señales a lo largo de las líneas que conectan París con ciudades como Lille en el norte, Burdeos en el oeste y Estrasburgo en el este. Otro ataque en la línea París-Marsella fue frustrado.

    Cientos de miles de personas quedaron atrapadas en las estaciones.
