CIUDAD DE MÉXICO, marzo 13 (EL UNIVERSAL).- Antes de declararse abiertamente homosexual, Freddie Mercury vivió un intenso amor junto a Mary Austin entre los años 1970 y 1976. Cuando fueron novios durante su juventud, el cantante le dedicó con muchísimo afecto la canción "Love Of My Life".

Haber sido el gran amor de una de las leyendas de la música y su confidente hasta el día que falleció, hizo de Austin la heredera del cantante de Queen. Así fue que la mujer se quedó con su fortuna y la casa de Garden Lodge, en Londres. En este hogar el intérprete de "I want to break free" pasó sus últimos días.

La vendedora de una tienda de indumentaria fue una de las personas que ha protegido y preservado el legado de Freddie, y es la administradora de su patrimonio y de sus derechos de autor. Respecto de su vida personal, la mujer ha sido muy discreta a través de todos estos años, pero se sabe que contrajo matrimonio con Piers Cameron en 1990 y dio a luz a dos hijos.
