El ejército de Nicaragua expulsó el domingo a casi 2.000 migrantes cubanos que habían penetrado en su territorio y que ahora esperan en un poblado del lado costarricense de la frontera una nueva oportunidad para continuar su viaje a Estados Unidos. Nicaragua se niega a aceptar a los cubanos y permitir su tránsito y ha acusado a Costa Rica de violar su soberanía y lanzar a los migrantes a su territorio. En la localidad norteña de La Cruz y el poblado fronterizo de Peñas Blancas, los cubanos permanecen albergados en iglesias, centros comunales y gimnasios, sin ninguna certeza de poder continuar su trayecto. El flujo de migrantes cubanos en Centroamérica y México registra un aumento significativo desde el año 2012. Tanto Honduras como México han registrado números cada vez más altos de cubanos que transitan en grandes grupos en dirección a Estados Unidos. Costa Rica propuso la creación de un "corredor humanitario", mientras espera la llegada de más migrantes a su frontera con Nicaragua. (Con información de agencias)
