Everything to Know About Netflix's New Show Gentefied

A new Latinx-centered show is coming to Netflix on February 21 and we could not be more excited. Gentefied is a dramedy about a Latinx family trying to save their taco shop in the lively neighborhood of Boyle Heights in Los Angeles. The new bilingual series, which consists of 10 episodes, is executive produced by America Ferrera and Wilmer Valderrama, who will both guest on the show.

Gentefied is adapted from a web series that premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Tackling relevant topics like identity, tradition, family ties and immigration, the series presents unique and lovable characters that paint a diverse picture of what it means to be a Latino living in America.

The story comes from Chicano writers Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chavez. The show follows three Mexican American cousins — played by Karrie Martin, Joseph Julian Soria and Carlos Santos — who “struggle to chase the American dream, even while that same dream threatens the things they hold most dear: their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather and the family taco shop.”

If the show is as hilarious as the trailer, then we’ll definitely be binge-watching!
